5 Days of Food – I miei pasti per cinque giorni

I miei pasti per cinque giorni is a post that I have been wanting to do for awhile. Only because I love my new passion for cooking (and eating) and I have found out that I am saving a TON of money while still […]

La Festa Della Donna – The Italian Nonna

La Festa Della Donna – The Italian Nonna

Today, March 8, is La Festa Della Donna (International Women’s Day) across the globe. I have partnered up again this month with the #DolceVitaBloggers to contribute to the topic of ‘Inspirational Women’. The truth is, I have had this post about the Nonna written for awhile and I […]

My Love Letter to Italia

My Love Letter to Italia

Dear Italia, I know it has been almost a year since we have seen each other in person, but I want you to know that since we first met at the age of 18, you have forever left an imprint on my heart and […]

When you can’t go to Italy, you go to Little Italy (in the Bronx)

When you can’t go to Italy, you go to Little Italy (in the Bronx)

There is nothing like New York City. It is truly one of the most dynamic and cultural places on Earth. That being said, it still isn’t Italy. However, you can find more authentic restaurants and shops here that somehow transport you to a new destination. […]

Art of the Aperitivo – more than a Happy Hour

Art of the Aperitivo – more than a Happy Hour

I know, this is a long overdue post and I have really been slacking! Truth is, it’s been a very busy time and we have had a lot of visitors recently. Not to mention I turned 29 (last year of my twenties, which seems tragic) […]

Solo in Italia (only in Italy) – 5 Things to try

Solo in Italia (only in Italy) – 5 Things to try

If only the baggage weight wasn’t 30kg (about 60 lbs) when traveling back from Italia. It really is sad, because an additional bag might cost you around $100, but in many ways it could be well worth it! You see, there are SO many wonderful […]

Jetlag, a motorbike, foccacia al formaggio – all in (or near) Camogli, Italia

Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone in the body that helps control your sleep and wake cycles. However, when you travel east and are looking to battle 6-9 hours of complete jet lag, it’s time to purchase a few extra mg’s at the store. My […]

In Vino Veritas (Latin for: In wine there is truth) – My truth liquid: Pigato

I took a break from writing this weekend because I wanted to also break from some social media and indulge in some additional cooking time at home. It was a great Labor Day weekend and relaxation was at the top of the list (who […]

Che cosa ho fatto: Gnocchi (What I made)

Che cosa ho fatto: Gnocchi (What I made)

Okay, so I’ve already discussed homemade pansotti (here)…but I figured that since food (il mangiare) is such a large part of the Italian culture, this will need its own section on the site. I’ve decided to call this, “Che cosa ho fatto” (What I made). […]

My designer handbag told me “La vita è bella” (The life is beautiful)

My designer handbag told me “La vita è bella” (The life is beautiful)

In the past three days I’ve started different blog posts, all of which will get published at some point, but I’m moved to write more about this topic today. That topic is about la vita è bella (the life is beautiful) and what that really means to […]

My Travels

Spaghetti. No meatballs.

Spaghetti. No meatballs.

Oh July, you are terribly hot in New York City. I’m nostalgically going through many photos of my adventures during my break at work today. There are so many, that I’m overwhelmed to start writing this blog and finally share. Even though I do not specialize in writing as my day job, I like to use this as my outlet to invite people into my current thoughts and findings.

One fun fact: there is no such thing as “spaghetti and meatballs”, who would have thought? Meatballs (polpette) exist, but solo (by themselves). You will never find this in Italy.

What you will find in Italy are many other things that I hope to share with you. Through an American’s eyes, with a heart of adventure, and a hunger for learning (and focaccia al formaggio – more on this later) – I bring to you “Be Come Italia”.
